Each of the main groups of animals (mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and invertebrates) has its own section in the book. These sections are subdivided in orders, families and species, the same division as in the Natural History Museum. The book does not pretend to be all inclusive, but shows the records that are most interesting for a certain species. Separate sections list the absolute world records. The book also has a ‘star treatment’ for animals that are exceptional in one way or another.
