Parrots of the World: An Identification Guide

From the macaws of South America to the cockatoos of Australia, parrots are among the most recognizable, but also the most endangered, birds on earth. In this beautiful coffee table book all species and subspecies are discussed.
This book, as the subtitle indicates, is presented as the most comprehensive handbook for distinguishing some 350 species of parrots. The book is richly illustrated, with many colour pictures and other illustrations. It discusses parrots in homes, in zoos and in the wild, with the unique characteristics that can be used to identify the different species. It is possible to search on a specific geographic region. Maps indicate the spread of the species. Also ecological and behavioural information are used for identification. A distinction is made between Old World and New World parrots and the effects of sex and age on plumage colour are pointed out.

The author is an Australian ornithologist and a world-renowned expert on parrots.
