The Raincoast Conservation Society has bought the hunting rights of a large piece of land on the Canadian west coast in order to protect pumas, grizzly bears, and wolves.
Raincoast collected around 1,17 million Canadian dollar from private donations. With this money a partnership organising hunting trips was bought in order to turn it into a partnership of eco-tourism. The area covered by the hunting rights is roughly 12,500 square miles in size and located in British Columbia. The natural animal population consists of pumas, black bears, and grizzly bears.
The foundation states to have bought the rights due to the commercial hunt on wildlife. The aim is to prevent the unnecessary massacre of numerous animals.
