The minister of Agriculture and the State Secretary of Economics talked recently with the Second Chamber concerning the World Trade agreement.
The animal protection society wishes a WTO agreement with good arrangements for the protections of animal wellbeing.

The animal protection society fears that animal friendly products, which are often more expensive, will be drowned by competition, when WTO negotiations will lead to decontrolling the world trade. Concerning agricultural products, a WTO agreement will only be acceptable when it offers possibilities to protect products which have come about in an animal friendly way, according to the animal protection society. For example, the EU ought to reject the genetic manipulation of animals and also products for which this technique is used. The same should count for countries and trading partners from outside the EU.
