The Illustrated Guide to Chickens

This book's subtitle is: 'How to Choose Them - How to Keep Them', and that describes the information inside, though it doesn’t do justice to the inclusion of such wonderful illustrations throughout the book.
More than a hundred of the most common poultry breeds from Europe and North America are featured in this book, and adults and chicks of each of these is beautifully painted. In addition, a nice overview is presented of the colouring of the eggs and feathers of the various breeds. But this is not just a picture book. It includes practical chapters on housing, feeding, common illnesses, acquiring birds, and also how to kill the animals with the necessary care. A description is given of each breed’s character, as well as whether it is appropriate for those just starting to keep birds.
